Recently dubbed the “Lady Gaga” of architecture by New York Times writer Paul Goldberger, Zaha Hadid designed this Established & Sons Aqua table with the undulating motion of water in mind.  Available in either black or white, this gorgeous three-legged table perfectly balances a Mod aesthetic with an undulating, organic quality.

Fin like legs register as dimples on the upper surface of the table, giving texture and movement to a utilitarian object that many would typically think of as flat and rigid.  The outré form implores interaction, needing naught to legitimize its existence (not even a fancy coffee table book).

Peek-a-boo sunglasses, anyone? This rare, quirky find is from none other than the unpredictable fashion cat, Jeremy Scott. Personally, I’d go for the cherry-red confection without hesitation (why not go mega-bold when you’re already going for the showstopper?), but these also come in these über-cool shades as well: opaque black, black/white, clear, and the Midas-touched gold.

Don’t even begin to ask me for what to pair with these hotnese cuz i won’t know where to begin! Truly, this one’s got a life (and a mind) of its own. So just let it be, and appreciate!

Brooke Kanani is a New-England-based jewelry designer whose work is an artful study in tension: raw, natural elements set against refined, Old World handiwork. The results are, for lack of a better word, thrilling. Organic motifs rendered in a spirit of modernity.

Hardly surprising considering Kanani apprenticed for four years with a Polish master. Her pieces are one of a kind, and made entirely by hand in her studio.

This sterling silver necklace, in particular, has become my raison d’être. The talon-like pieces, the organic, withered elements, the horseshoe-crab toggle? Brilliant, in a word. Perfect with a plain t-shirt, of course, but even better as a complement to an insanely-low cut tuxedo jacket à la Tom Ford’s recent return to womenswear. Or, for the menfolk, over a stiffly-starched, leather-collared dress shirt.

C’est parfait, non?

By now, we all know about the Lady in Red. She’s been around for decades and though her appeal has never waned, frankly, she’s a bit tired. Even her patron saint, Mr. Garavani, has retired. Perhaps it’s time for her to take the hint?

Or, better still, go with a more subtle approach, via this delicious dress from Newport-based demicouture label Isoude. The cut is impeccable: understated, sexy, with touches of contrast in all the right places.  If a little mystery is the mother of intrigue, this piece shows just enough skin for a Victorian scandal. The thrill.

A little advice: spritz on your favorite perfume, but leave the handbag at home. Sewn at the hips are two playful pockets just large enough to hold a tube of matching rouge lipstick and the small stack of calling cards you’ll be handing out all night to your coterie of new dance partners. Don’t worry when you run out — they’ll never forget the way you looked that night.

Before you know it, Labor Day and the very-much-anticipated New York Fashion Week will be just around the corner (read: brace yourselves for another frigid winter). But fret not, my dears: this Alexander Wang cowl-neck dress is a to-die-for transitional piece for your last round of summer cocktail-garden parties.

There’s the impeccable draping in classic A.Wang style, of course, but also a worth a mention are both the unexpectedly uber-cool-sexy asymmetrical cut of the dress and the gorgeous ‘butterscotch’ color! Bisous!

Rejoice, fellow shoppers!  Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of both Chanel and Fendi and all-around-fashion-dictator-vampire is launching a collaboration with mega-retailer Macy’s, to much fashionista-fanfare!

The Karl Lagerfeld Impulse Collection will be unveiled in more than 200 Macy’s stores nationwide and online on August 31st. The 45-piece capsule collection is sure to be an instant sell-out, with prices ranging from $50 to $170. Word to the wise: Lagerfeld’s 2004 collaboration with H&M sold out in mere minutes.

It’s safe to assume the collection will feature tweed, black and white colorplay, and Lagerfeld’s inimitable “classic-meets-rock-n’-roll” spirit. For those devoted enough to make the opening day, Lagerfeld will make a personal appearance at the Macy’s Herald Square flagship in NYC…

See you on the Acela? Yeah, thought so.

Recently, I felt somewhat annoyed to not see my favorite and most water-works trustworthy mascara atop Sephora’s list best rated eye beauty products. So, I felt I would give my favorite product the ode that it deserves.

Dear Diorshow Backstage Waterproof Mascara, I love you. While wearing this product I can cry Justin Timberlake a river; hell, I can cry him the entire Atlantic. Because, this baby ain’t gonna run-Dior and I guarantee it. Ladies, feel free to take a dip to beat the heat or stop living in denial and finally shed a tear over Prince William being taken off the market without the fear of looking like a raccoon afterwards.

Who told the talented duo at Ohne Titel of my weakness for dresses with a painterly provenance? Whoever it was, let me say, humbly, thank you. Thank you very much.

Exhibit A: this sleeveless draped silk dress with contrasting panels. It gives me the same variety of tickled excitement I experience when staring at a Mondrian or a Franz Kline, and that isn’t easy to come by. Not as easy as I’d like it to be, anyway.

This dress balances its bright IKB (that’s International Klein Blue for those of you who aren’t art freaks) base with its black and white geometric accents in such perfect ratios that one thing becomes immediately obvious: you and your stylish cronies (art freaks or not) will be moonstruck with a single glance.

Not exactly a surprise considering the design duo at Ohne Titel have also collaborated with one of my favorite artists, Tauba Auerbach, AND they happen to be up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award this year…

Rumor has it this solid brass cuff was influenced by the Rite of Spring scene in the classic Disney film Fantasia. However, I speculate the creative team behind jewelry company nOir spent a night locked in the Museum of Natural History (sans Ben Stiller and Dick Van Dyke) and woke up inspired by its extensive dinosaur exhibit.

Regardless, there is no denying just how damn cool this piece is. For proof, look no further than the effortlessly chic singer and mother of two Gwen Stefani, who wore this plated gold bracelet embellished with hundreds of Cubic Zirconia stones in pave setting on the cover of Elle UK earlier this year.

Like a fine glass of Bordeaux, or George Clooney, it would seem the dinosaur motif only gets better with age.

A welcome twist on the maxi skirts you’ve seen all around town, Aminaka Wilmont gives us something more to play with than mere gathered fabric sweeping across the concrete jungle (or maybe a sandy beach by the Hamptons, if you’re lucky enough to be strolling by one with your sparkly sandals on-hand).

Trust me. This one is a must-have, with its standout monochromatic fowl-feather print in monochrome colors. And though summer is the season for prime body shaming, the silk jersey will be flattering for nearly all body types. Pair this multi-tasking maxi skirt with minimalistic accessories to keep the overall look streamlined, and let the skirt work it!

Any of my friends can tell you, I love a good cocktail ring. I wear one nearly every day. But much as I plead, most of my ’practical’ friends cite one reason for not getting in on the fun: cocktail rings usually pack quite a punch in the profile department. While I obviously don’t have any trouble wearing a ring that could accidentally knock a glass off a table when I walk by, I understand some of you may not be as willing, so I offer this AMAZING ring from Lady Grey as the best of both worlds!

Yes, it has a low, comfortable profile, but with its unique double-layered design, staggered geometric shapes, and–my very favorite aspect–its hand-applied, gradient patina finish, it’s anything but understated.

Frankly, I’m not sure if this vase needs flowers at all.  Created from flexible resins by FISH DESIGN, the white and transparent ochre shades fuse into one another like melting wax, creating a poured quality which defies the laws of gravity, drifting upward at one point, melting downward at another. Few flowers could even compete.

I imagine Matthew Barney would have this resting on his mantel, right next to hexagonal beeswax candles and a copy of the I-Ching. If that’s not reason enough to buy it, I don’t know what is.

My hunt for a fluorescent yellow bag was stunted this summer when I realized that the fabulous chartreuse I so craved seemed available only from the likes of Céline, Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler. Yes, season after season, these houses deliver fabulous handbags (and I may or may not own a PS1 or two…), but a designer bag just wasn’t in the summer budget, what with all the traveling and, let’s be honest here, booze.

You can imagine then my excitement to discover the Cambridge Satchel Company, with its array of fluorescents. A classic ode to British school satchels, the bag reads as a streamlined hybrid of Céline’s Box Bag and Proenza’s PS1. It has that understated professional look of the latter, but with the structure and shape of the former. And with endless options of sizes and colors, this bag can range from day to evening, Summer to Winter, woman to man (actually, I love this look for a men’s work bag). And while the sizes and colors range in price, most are priced at less than $150, none going above $200.

Fluorescent yellow, you will be mine!

Belt, necklace, purse decoration, even wrapped around a boot, there’s nothing I love more than a versatile accessory, and this piece, lovingly created by Veronica Vartic, more than fits the bill.  A woman after my own heart, Ms. Vartic describes herself as infinitely inspired by the creative limitations of the need to function…

If her other solutions look anything like this, count me in.

Come the time of  suffocating Boston summer heat,  I often find myself daydreaming of trips to high elevation mountain ranges and swims under lush waterfalls.  Having neither the time nor the money for such an escape, I naturally default to a little retail therapy.

This beautiful silk dress speaks to me on many levels, but most profound is its ability to suck me into such an evocative print.  It’s a magic carpet ride of sorts, this print, and there’s little better than to be able to glance down and feel lost in a rendition of terra firma redolent with memories of hikes through red canyons. Memories, mind you, of things that never actually occurred.

I DON’T EVEN KNOW where to begin with this one. I first discovered artisan Italian label Giacomorelli while trolling Facebook and steadfastly avoiding legitimate work, which, as some of you know, is very much the story of my life. I was downright drooling at the entire catalogue. LEGIT: there was drool on my desk. Certainly not my proudest moment, but I’ve committed more embarrassing acts in the name of love.

Back to the actual shoe: the texture play, the FUCHSIA ponyhair, the piping, the perfectly perforated wingtip. This is a classic shoe for the fashion-folk gent– the man desirous of everything but whose sartorial choices are cautiously curated. Chances are good I won’t catch another cat strolling the street in this shoe.  If I did, I’d marry such a man on the spot. NO PRENUP NECESSARY.

The mens collection may be a bit bold for the Post Office Square crowd, but I am willing to wager a few of my ladies could get down with the womens collection. The same fuchsia ponyhair in a ballet flat? Yes, please.

Good, the Charles Street cabinet of curiosities, has a collection of mounted butterflies and insects that is downright spellbinding. Having recently acquired a Rhinoceros Beetle for a client–a conversation piece, indeed–I’ve now set my sights on my own mounted beauty and, lest I leave you in the lurch, can proudly announce IT WILL BE THIS ONE.

This wildly iridescent wonder will add a certain interest to nearly any space. Floating between two panes of glass in a matte ebony-stained 7″x6″ frame, it’s a unique objet d’art that won’t creep me the hell out when I wake up in the morning but is also interesting enough to garner attention, despite its relatively small size. In my cacophonous, if curated, installations, an accessory must hold its own or it isn’t worth having. BUT THIS. OH, and HOW.

How perfectly absurd (and perfectly Good) would it be to install a miniature blacklight above this piece? Don’t worry, pictures forthcoming.
