Attention brunchers! Style Boston is celebrating its new encore episode on Sunday mornings at 10 am with an ode to the best of the best in Boston brunching. This weekend, we are giving away a free Sunday brunch for 2 to the ultra chic and delicious Gaslight Brasserie du Coin in Boston’s South End. All you have to do is watch Style Boston Saturday at 11:35 pm on WBZ or Sunday 10:00 am on MyTV38 and tell us what Jerod Mayo’s second favorite sport is on Facebook or Twitter.
But let’s rendez-vous for a petite more about the restaurant of the hour, Gaslight.
Have you ever fantasized what it would be like to aimlessly stroll the streets of Paris as if you were Corinne Marchand in Cléo from 5 to 7 and happen upon quaint brasserie that exudes the ambience of old world France yet embodies the sophistication of Parisians now? Firstly, mon ami, you are a romantic. Secondly, you do not have to cross the Atlantic or even the Charles to do that.
Set among charming brick façades, Gaslight, named Best French Restaurant 2011 by the Best of Boston, is the city’s answer to elegant, accessible and affordable cuisine needs. Chef Christopher Robins has crafted an authentic taste palette that stays true to the elements of French dining while appealing to New Englanders for every meal.
The eclectic brunch menu covers a range of re-inspired classics featuring ham and egg. But what really dazzles are the numerous seafood dishes including the spiced crusted yellowfin tuna and steamed prince Edward island mussels that utilize regional catches and redefine breakfast options. Picky-eaters, do not swim away just yet. The carmelized banana crepes and vanilla French toast will have you saying “Oh la la” for days especially when paired with a café noisette or chocolat chaud.
The Parisian feel goes even further beyond the francaise in the menu. The reclaimed wooden floors, white tile walls, exposed beam ceilings, antique décor and delightfully seductive mood lighting is “to a t” what one would find in any of the 20 districts in the French capital city. As for seating, Gaslight offers a range of experiences including an intimate table for two, oversized tables for groups, bar space for nighttime drink meet ups and al fresco dining. Your brunch date might make you want to peek at the dinner menu.
