The adolescent voice that embodied a suburban generation: Asher Roth. He’s a lover. Lover of booze, drugs, sleeping in, women, and sunshine. Dislikes: people that harsh his mellow vibe.
The “I Love College” singer raps about his pizza, beer, and party days with lines like ” had this one girl completely naked/Drink my beer and smoke my weed but my good friends is all I need/ Pass out at 3, wake up at 10, go out to eat then do it again.” I’m not sure that everyone has quite the same college experience, and even if they do they probably wouldn’t think to write a song about it, but Asher Roth did and it propelled him to stardom. Go figure.
The quintessential fraternity boy is back with his sophomore studio album “Is This Too Orange,” and it’s more of that same freshman mentality (and it only came three years after his first). Hmmm, two guesses what he was up to.
His single “Party Girl” brings Eddie Murphy back to the forefront of the music scene…you know, right where he belongs. It’s a catchy song about the pride Asher feels about his girlfriend’s drinking prowess.
You too can be in awe:
Asher Roth will grace Boston with his presence on December 2nd at 8:00 pm at the Brighton Music Hall. Get tickets here.
