Disco does something to my body. I’m not sure if it’s the tempo, the funky synthesizers, occasional brass influences or piano chords, but there’s something about it that takes my two Jewish left feet on a ride that I never want to get off. The Knocks never fail in my book; they take the world of disco and funk to an unparalleled level of greatness. Their music speaks for itself and the new track, Dancing With Myself, follows the trend of becoming another dance masterpiece. With smooth vocals from Mr. J. Patt, over a bass heavy piano driven track, this mid-tempo funky jam should have your head bobbing. Dancing With Myself is the lead single from The Knocks’ debut full length album. Confession: I’ve never wanted to be a personal shopper. There, I said it. I love to shop and am all about finding the perfect fashion solution but with the majority of personal shopping services tied to a single store, it didn’t seem like a good fit. I’m an independent fashion stylist who craves the creative freedom to be able to mix brands and price points to serve a customer’s needs. I also had reservations about the customer wondering if the advice and guidance they received was somehow influenced by personal shoppers, whose compensation is tied to how much the customer spends. All that changed when Copley Place started a new personal shopping program that allows their personal shopper to bring customers to any retailer within the mall. And it’s free to customers! With the focus 100% on finding the right options for customers, let’s just say I was “all in.”

Boho is making a comeback for Resort ’15 – though I can’t say it ever left my closet and I don’t think it will. My wardrobe consists mostly of long, free flowing shirts and dresses, fringe and some more fringe. Perhaps I keep Boho around to hide my food baby – and I secretly wish I lived inside a Free People magazine. Don’t get me wrong; I love the minimal, streamlined look Boho encompasses, there’s this understated vibe it exudes, a kind of bold and carefree look if you will. It won’t go away anytime soon because contemporary classics are a staple. It is just a matter of keeping them fresh.
The floral print will always pair nicely with bohemian style threads; it’s just a matter of how the print is presented. We see designers reinvent floral each season, the question is, are they executed correctly? Another boho staple is the tie-dye print, which again can be hit or miss depending on the representation of the print. And he achieved just that at his SS’15 show. Ralph Lauren has set a precedent for Fashion Week by showing his Women’s Polo collection on a 4D projection on a wall of water in Central Park.
Partnering with MPC Creative New York, Ralph Lauren took his audience on a journey of over 13,000 frames through the elusive world of fashion. There exists a dreamy, unobtainable essence of Fashion Week and Ralph made that feeling literal. I understand the efforts that are involved in creating a collection, and that adrenaline rush when first exposing your work. Ralph took this to a brand new f***ing level, making this debut completely magical. While I am a sucker for simplicity, appreciating the music, lights and sole focus on the garments themselves, Ralph Lauren delivered a fresh, innovative presentation that fits right into this digital world. Presentation is everything and this collaboration hit it right out of Central Park.
