Disco does something to my body. I’m not sure if it’s the tempo, the funky synthesizers, occasional brass influences or piano chords, but there’s something about it that takes my two Jewish left feet on a ride that I never want to get off. The Knocks never fail in my book; they take the world of disco and funk to an unparalleled level of greatness. Their music speaks for itself and the new track, Dancing With Myself, follows the trend of becoming another dance masterpiece. With smooth vocals from Mr. J. Patt, over a bass heavy piano driven track, this mid-tempo funky jam should have your head bobbing. Dancing With Myself is the lead single from The Knocks’ debut full length album. If their past singles and EP’s are any indication, the future of the Knocks, should be nothing less than spectacular. Watch the brand new video for Dancing With Myself below.
One of the reasons I really like going west to ski is because it’s one of the few places in the country where I feel comfortable wearing my western gear. Lucky for me, my summer home in the Adirondacks is also western-friendly as the area is loaded with dude ranches, one which hosts a rodeo every Tuesday and Friday night. Then there’s the upstate New York place we go for Christmas, a store called The Westerner in Greenville that is everyone’s dream come true for last minute shopping – everything from cowboy hats to belts to horse blankets.
Meanwhile, I was thrilled in 2005 when Brokeback Mountain was nominated for best picture because it gave me the chance to go all denim and fringe to my neighbor’s for a party. I’ve got the hat of course, a great little fringed purse, boots, belts and of course some western style skirts and shirts.

And now I’m here to launch an all out campaign to go western in New England. I’ve got a good friend – a guy who wears western all the time, including the hat, a bolero, and great white shirts and he never leaves home without the boots. Women, we need to give it a try. I know Christy Cashman can pull it off for sure.

Candice Wu of Candice Wu Couture is presently one of the best-known designers in Boston. Originally from Hong Kong, Candice followed her love of fashion to Boston where she received a business degree as well as a degree in Fashion Design. And he achieved just that at his SS’15 show. Ralph Lauren has set a precedent for Fashion Week by showing his Women’s Polo collection on a 4D projection on a wall of water in Central Park.
Partnering with MPC Creative New York, Ralph Lauren took his audience on a journey of over 13,000 frames through the elusive world of fashion. There exists a dreamy, unobtainable essence of Fashion Week and Ralph made that feeling literal. I understand the efforts that are involved in creating a collection, and that adrenaline rush when first exposing your work. Ralph took this to a brand new f***ing level, making this debut completely magical. While I am a sucker for simplicity, appreciating the music, lights and sole focus on the garments themselves, Ralph Lauren delivered a fresh, innovative presentation that fits right into this digital world. Presentation is everything and this collaboration hit it right out of Central Park.
Some people are born this way. HORSE CRAZY! I was certainly one of them, with emphasis on the word crazy.
I just returned from one of the most glamorous aspects of the horse world and the amazing thing is its only 3 ½ hours outside of Boston. I’m talking Saratoga Springs, NY. http://www.nyra.com/saratoga/, where for an intense six week period some of the top horses in the world compete for millions of dollars.

Those were the words told to us by a man whose designs have been worn for decades by pop culture’s greats, such as, Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews, Joan Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Joan Collins, Ann Romney… just to name a few.
The late Alfred Fiandaca became a preferred fashion designer to some of the most affluent women in politics and entertainment in the last half century and whose stylings have become as timeless and beloved as the women who wear them. Before he passed on February 9th in his Palm Beach home at age 72, the East Boston native sat down with us to share his thoughts on his lifetime of achievements. Though, don’t expect any basking in the glory of being a favorite of powerful and beautiful women. Fiandaca was in love with the fashion…not fame.

She had it all, her collection on covers of Vogue and Vanity Fair, celebrities hitting the scene in her designs, thirty+ stores carrying her first season collection. New York-based fashion designer Gemma Kahng was as powerful as her quirky interpretation of power suits that her name became synonymous with across the globe…That was the ’90s.
Kahng learned quickly that in fashion “one day you are in and the next day you are out,” as Heidi Klum would say on Project Runway.
Now, over a decade later, Kahng is breathing new life back into her name as a designer after overcoming the tolls of divorce, plummeting finances and an unforgiving industry. Like a phoenix from the ashes, she has come back from obscurity with a new look and attitude that demands well deserved attention.

Alexander Wang announced during his resort presentation today he’ll be opening a second retail store location in Beijing. Having just opened his first store in Manhattan earlier this year he’s clearly gunning for world domination, not dissimilar from Tom Ford whose beauty line drops soon.
Perhaps there’s a cosmetics line in Wang’s future? A girl can dream…
Cast from actual wood splinters taken from Rivington Street Synagogue in the early 1900s, and handcrafted in NYC, they boast a sharp and angular design. Clearly, they evoke the current, inescapable obsession with studs (can anyone say Burberry et Balmain?), but I love them for managing to do so in a deliciously naturalistic way, and for taking their cue from a history older than a washed up 80s punk band.
